Sales Engineer / Solutions Architect - Spark

Our client is a product and services firm, pre-IPO, that specializes in data science and analytics for the commercial market and federal government. They utilize Apache Spark as the foundation of their products and solutions. They are seeking several Solutions Architects to join their growing sales engineering team in the Mid-Atlantic region.
This role is all about evangelizing Spark, showing what it can do, and helping customers evaluate and adopt Spark and our client's products. You may work with customers in a pre-sales and/or post-sales capacity, and you'll help them figure out how to solve their problems. You'll work to understand customer goals and data sets, create demos, and develop proofs-of-concept to show how Spark and our client's products can integrate into customer systems and help them succeed.
In this role, you'll be on-site with customers part of the time, and you'll frequently work from home when you don't have customer meetings.
To succeed in this role, you'll need the following:
- an interest in engaging with customers
- strong communication skills
- strong server-side programming skills (in Scala, Python, or Java)
- a willingness to travel to various customer sites around the area
The following are a significant plus:
- prior experience in a pre-sales or post-sales engineering role
- prior experience with Spark
- prior experience with Hadoop, Storm, Kafka, and related technologies
- experience in ETL, batch processing, real-time processing, and Data Science
Our client has a number of different opportunities throughout Virginia, Maryland, and DC, both in the commercial sector and in the federal sector. US citizenship or Permanent Resident status is required for all roles, and existing federal security clearances (up to and including TS/SCI + FS Poly) are a plus.
